Abstract:

Objective

Endoscopic papillectomy (EP) is the main therapy to papillary tumorous lesions while bleeding is the most common and critical postoperative complication. In order to reduce postoperative bleeding rate, we initially created a novel therapy and procedure of endoscopic papillectomy.

Methods

The novel procedure has two main modified aspects compared with traditional EP, including isolating bile from pancreatic fluid and closing the wound. We did a single-center prospective study to examine its feasibility.

Results

We prospectively studied on 13 patients with novel therapy and procedure, and the postoperative bleeding rate of the new therapy was 0, which was obviously lower than that of traditional therapy(4.5%-45%).

Conclusion

The novel endoscopic papillectomy is an effective therapy to reduce postoperative bleeding.
