Abstract:

Collagen XI (collagen type XI, COL11) is a kind of secondary collagen. Its main physiological function is to regulate the diameter of main collagen fibers. COL11A1 encodes the α1 chain of procollagen 11A1 and mature collagen 11A1, which usually exists in cartilage and its pathogenic role in various musculoskeletal diseases has been confirmed. However, as one of the important components of tumor microenvironment, COL11A1 has attracted more and more attention in recent years.Studies have shown that COL11A1 is secreted by cancer-related fibroblasts (CAFs), can promote tumor epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT), is an important factor in the occurrence and development of various cancers, is related to tumor invasion, metastasis, drug resistance, etc. This review will focus on the role and mechanism of COL11A1 in the malignant progression of common digestive system tumors, so as to provide valuable reference for the treatment and follow-up research of digestive system tumors.

Key words: Digestive system tumor, COL11A1, Cancer-associated fibroblasts, Epithelial mesenchymal transition
