Interpretation of the management of foreign bodies in the digestive tract of children in China: a clinical practice guideline(2021)

Abstract:

This article focuses on the interpretation of the key points of the first Chinese guideline for the management of pediatric gastrointestinal foreign bodies, which is management of foreign bodies in the digestive tract of children in China: a clinical practice guideline(2021). We reviewed the diagnosis of foreign bodies in the digestive tract of children, the timing of endoscopic treatment and endoscopic techniques, the key points of management of common foreign bodies and high-risk foreign bodies, related complications and comorbidities, and also sort out the problems of the lack of high-level evidence-based medical evidence in order to promote standardized clinical management of GI foreign bodies in children.
