Abstract:

Acute biliary pancreatitis (ABP) is a major type of acute pancreatitis in China, with high incidence and rapid progression.Improper management can lead to severe complications. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is a primary therapeutic approach for ABP.It enables the management of intrahepatic and extrahepatic bile duct stones, thereby reducing the occurrence of ABP and improving patient outcomes. This review elaborates on the current application of ERCP in ABP, including the indications, optimal timing for intervention, and associated complications.
