Abstract:

Gastric cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer death in the world, and accurate preoperative staging plays a crucial role in the later selection of treatment strategies for gastric cancer patients. With the development of endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS), multi-slice spiral CT, MRI and other imaging techniques, the accuracy of clinical staging of gastric cancer has been significantly improved. Many studies have shown that serological markers, including plasma fibrinogen level, neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR), are related to preoperative staging and therapeutic effect of patients with gastric cancer. The inclusion of serological markers in the staging assessment of gastric cancer can make preoperative staging more accurate and provide a better basis for individualized tumor treatment. This article aims to review the current status and prospects of the development of staging evaluation models for gastric cancer.
