Research progress in cold polypectomy

Abstract:

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in worldwide, Polypectomy of colonic polyps has been shown to reduce the risk of Colorectal cancer development.Polyps′ endoscopic treatments and related technologies have gradually become the focus of study and upgrading techniques of endoscopes.At present, varieties of polypectomy techniques and devices are available and use vary greatly based on some characteristics of polyps, such as size, shape, location and different pathological types. While the traditional resection methods is electrocoagulation, and the incidence of delayed hemorrhage, perforation and other adverse events are high.Cold polypectomy has many advantages, such as simple operation, short time-consuming, high complete resection rates, low rate of late-onset bleeding and perforation, wound healing rapidly, and so on, and is gradually catching endoscopic physician′s eyes.This article reviews the cold polypectomy and related research.
