Portal hypertensive enteropathy

Abstract:

Portal hypertension is a group of symptoms caused by the continuous increase of portal pressure. The most common manifestation is gastrointestinal bleeding, especially esophageal and gastric varices bleeding. With the development of small intestine examination, especially capsule endoscopy and double balloon enteroscopy, the portal hypertension features in the small intestine was defined as portal hypertension enterophy(PHE), which could be a source of gastrointestinal bleeding. Therefore, in patients with gastrointestinal bleeding, the examination of PHE should not be ignored when there is no varicose vein in the stomach or esophagus.
