Effect of seandary sigmoid colonoscopy on the detection rate of adenomatous polyps

Abstract:

Objective

To study the influence of the detection rate of adenomatous polyps in sigmoid colon by observing the sigmoid colon in repeated colonoscopy.

Methods

A total of 1 800 patients who underwent colonoscopy in the endoscopy center of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Baotou Medical College in December 2020 were selected, and 900 of them were randomly selected for the observation of sigmoid colon with double repeated endoscopy, and the detection rate of adenomatous polyps in sigmoid colon with single endoscopy and double repeated endoscopy was analyzed.

Results

Among the 1 800 cases of colonoscopy, 832 cases of colonic adenomatous polyps were examined. 780 adenomas were detected by single sigmoid colonoscopy, and 1 080 adenomas were detected by repeated sigmoid colonoscopy.

Conclusion

In this study, secondary sigmoid colonoscopy can improve the detection rate of adenomatous polyps in sigmoid colon, which has important clinical significance in reducing the risk of developing colon cancer.
