Analysis and Countermeasure of Missed Appointments for Gastrointestinal endoscopy Registered Patients Under Nil- appointment

Abstract:

Objective

To understand and analyze the reasons and characteristics of missed appointments for gastroenteroscopy, and further increase the methods of appointment.

Methods

In this study, date of 3001 Patients who make gastroenteroscopy appointments in G. I.endoscopy center of PLA General Hospital from May 28 to June 6 2018 were selected, 208 patients who don′t keep the appointment were recorded reasons by telepone.The absence rates of different age groups, genders and regions were compared, and reasons of missed appointments were statistically analyzed.

Results

The absence rates is 6.9%.Among 208 cases of missed appointments, 23.6% are due to physical reasons; 12.0%、11.5% of them were abcent due to busyness or occupation respectively; 10.1%、8.7% of them were abcent due to long waiting time of other examinations and more preoperative examinations respectively; 5.7% of patients had completed examinations in others hospitals; 5.3% of patients did not want to be examined.

Conclusions

It is suggested to impose more restrictions on missing appointments, strengthen health education for special groups , increase the cancellation channels and check reminders to reduce the missed appointments.
